French Toast Alert
I was reading Paul Levy's blog, Running a Hospital, and he'd just posted about this new alert system that has been developed "in consultation with local and federal emergency officials to help you determine when to panic and rush to the store to buy milk, eggs and bread."My favorite recipe for French Toast is from Cook's Illustrated magazine. We have a copy of the recipe in a plastic folder so we can use it at a moments notice, together with fresh eggs from our chickens.

Just writing about this makes me want to rustle up a batch right now.
MUST....
RESIST...

Over the weekend, I made up Alton Brown's french toast, which turned out soooooo good. Sorry I can't be much more help in resisting your french toast temptation. =P
You're not helping the rest of us either. If I could make some now I probably would. Thank goodness the only bread in the house is rye. And it's not like we can run out and buy bread this afternoon.
can you make the cook's illustrated french toast with fake eggs? if so, email it to me Bernard. I CANNOT RESIST FRENCH TOAST!
That was hysterical...I love the Harvey Leonard references. He really does get the happy face when the weather's bad around here!
Bernard,
I hope you & yours are all safe & warm & ready for your snow. I heard we're supposed to get some here later this week, too. Hopefully, it won't be as bad as they say.
You have chickens? That's cool!
