The Romantic Toll of Diabetes
Those of us living with diabetes already know how much it impacts our lives.Too many times each and every day we have to pause in what we're doing to make some allowance for diabetes. And this is just as true when we're being romantic with a loved one.
The Well blog on the New York Times site has a post today about a new book, Sex and Diabetes, that examines how diabetes affects our romantic lives and gives various strategies for dealing with it.
It sounds like it may be a worthwhile read.

This Sex and Diabetes book appears to be the usual ADA garbage pitched mostly to Type 2s.
According to the Times it "even offers diabetes-approved recipes for romantic mornings and evenings, such as banana-ginger muffins and a chocolate log dessert."
Banana ginger muffins! For a type 2 controlling on diet and exercise?
Unless you believe (as the ADA does) that a blood sugar of 180 two hours after eating is "tight control" and indeed so tight that it might be dangerous even when you are controlling on diet alone, (as reported on their web site "Tight Control" page) this book should be worthless.
I also suspect they're promoting the ED drugs since they are made by the drug companies that heavily sponsor them and whose products they push very heavily. My understanding is that the ED drugs do not work well for men with diabetes and that normalizing blood sugars will work a whole lot better.
