My Happy Monday
Following a suggestion by Kevin, I've started working with Gary Scheiner of Integrated Diabetes Services.I had my first meeting (by phone) with him last week. Today was a great day, and I think some of that was due to the suggestions that he made about changing some pump settings. Here's the proof, thanks to my Dexcom STS.
I'm hoping to get a few more days like this from here on out. I'll let you know how it goes.

awesome!!! Congrat's. I try to think of every decent stretch on the Dexcom as a small victory.
On another note, it is interesting to note that taking a picture of the readout is probably easiest way to display the results. I'm looking forward to some better software from Dexcom.

I went to Gary Scheiner's Site wanting to find out his Fees. None was posted.
What exactly does he charge, and why do you feel he his more preferable than other CDE's in T1DM Management?

The rates are there there , they're just very hard to find. I don't think it's deviousness, just a poor website design.
I doubt if Gary would do comparisons between his practice and others. Though I guess you'd have to ask him that yourself.
The reason I'm using him is because he comes recommended, and I've been reading the book he co-authored Think Like a Pancreas. I've found it an easy read and very informative.
I figure it's well worth spending the money if it can help my control.
Wow you guys are really in tune with your diabetes. That is the difference you are making for us belonging to this DOC.

Bernard, I have printed out Gary's fees..... In Belgium one gets all medication prescriptions, pump supplies and lab analyses through a hospital, so I would have to keep them involved. It is very clear they would not accept skipping the quarterly appointments tied to the lab work and necessary prescriptions + pump supplies. I am wondering if it is possible to combine the two without tramping too hard on "touchy toes". For example, if Garry should want a lab test, how would I accomplish that? Request my doctors here in Belgium to do the test, but not necessarily follow their subsequent advice? Very, very tricky in that they must give me my supplies and prescriptions! I have read Gary's book, and I agree it is the best of all that I have read. If I were pleased with Gary's management, I do not think I would be satisfied with "Individual Follow-Up Consultations". Diabetic factors don't remain fixed! I am happy you have this alternative :). If you think my reasoning has somehow gone wrong, please tell me!
I'm glad you found working with Gary to be beneficial. I give him lots of credit for helping me get over some serious hurdles.
And to clarify a little, I don't think Gary co-authored "Think Like a Pancreas" -- he is the sole author, with a foreword by Barry Goldstein.
