Using the KeyNote blood glucose meter

Since Amy posted her review of this meter, I thought you might be interested in seeing it in action.

So here's a short video of the meter being used to take a reading.

More about this meter next week.

Update: The meter is made by a New England company called AgaMatrix. I don't know how many insurance companies are covering it. I really like the styling overall.

I saw that first number and thought, "WHOA DUDE!" but then it all made sense.

I think if they would add "Tetris" then we would finally have the perfect meter!

Bernard,

I'm currently testing out (ha! the puns!) a Keynote and have been chatting with the guys over at Agamatrix for the last year or so.

I'll be posting my reviews sometime in the next few weeks. But so far, this little Keynote sucker is a nifty meter. And uses such a small blood sample!

We still like Emma's freestyle mini because if ..well..its size. She can virtualy use it herself.
HOwever i like how fast that one in the video sucks up the blood. I like the rubber sides too.

I like George's idea for adding Tetris - haven't played that in years.

Howdy-
I just got one of those meters, since it seems pretty small and nifty, the strips are so cheap and seem to suck up blood nicely, and since you just made it look so easy. Oddly enough, though, my readings have been wildly erratic - usually 20-50 points higher than my Flash and Ultra readings. Must be a defective meter - I'll give a call when I get a chance.

Travis,

I am seeing very simular results with my new Keynote meter. Erratic reading that are 15% to 35% higher than my Flash meter. (My BG is usually between 85-115 with my Flash meters)

I called AgaMatrix and they are sending me new test strips. They also sugested that I try some finger readings (I usually do forearm)

Folks,

FWIW bG sampling from parts of the body other than the fingers is a technique Totally Driven by meter marketing folks. Clearly many folks find that finger sticks result occasionally in an "Ouch!" and would prefer a totally painless method of sampling. Sensing "Gold In Them Thar Painless Sampling Hills"
the marketing boys could care less about accuracy and use their power to decisions made by those in their respective companies that do...

At best samples derived from forearm sampling are badly out of date in terms of your Current bG levels. bG readings from the fingers are, have always been, and probably will continue to be the Gold Standard in terms of bG sample accuracy.

All best,
Win
