Wireless technology for diabetes devices

I saw this posting about some folks who are working on wireless technology for linking glucometers and insulin pumps.

The reason I'm commenting on it is because there's a picture in the posting that doesn't look like any device that I'm currently aware of. It's certainly not a Minimed device.

So my question is, who else is working on these things?

Hi Bernard, yeah I saw this too and wondered but I think it's just a proof of concept demonstrating their wireless protocol rather than a prototype for a real product. Just in case you're not familiar with Diabetech, we've been working with some pretty cool wireless technology for diabetes devices with patients since 2002. (www.diabetech.net)

If Diabetech is working on devices, have you thought about microformats for diabetes readings?

I'd be interested in what you know about the blood glucose reading data format for various meters. It seems to me that getting manufacturers to agree on a standard for readings (with a level of flexibility for meter-specific features) would be a good first step towards enabling data sharing to happen.
