Earlier pictures still to come when they return from Mystic Photo Labs.

porch The baby chicks are home! This is when we first got them home. They are 2 days old in this picture. Here are my daughters holding little Mary and Rita at 2 days old.
Orpington 2 Here's little Mary at almost 3 weeks old. She's a cutie.
She is a Buff Orpington, a breed developed in Orpington, England. She's distinguished by her up-turned tail feathers.
Orpington 1 Here's little Rita at almost 3 weeks old. Her tail and wing feathers are a little further developed than Mary's. (Update: after some more time past, we realized that Rita was not a little girl chicken at all. The reason her feathers were more developed at this stage is that she was, in fact, a rooster!)
Aracauna Baby-chick Farrell #3.
This little one is an Aracauna or "Easter Egg Chicken". With a little luck she'll be laying blue or green eggs as an adult.
Garden This is our aracauna in the grass by the garden, to give you a better idea of size. All the chicks are about the size of large robins. They started out about the size of a chickadee.
